SMUD, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District is hosting The Tiny House Competition on October 15, 2016. This is a home building event which will take place at California State University, Sacramento. The colleges and universities participating in The Tiny House Competition will explore zero-net energy building, green building techniques, and sustainable living. Teams will design and build houses on wheels,ranging between 100 and 400 square feet. These homes will feature smart energy appliances, green building techniques and the use of renewable energy, creating innovative net-zero homes.

Fresno State Tiny Home Overview

Mission: Empower students to design and build an affordable, sustainable, zero net energy ‘tiny house’ solution for the San Joaquin Valley.

Goal: Our goal is to design and construct a sustainable home for anyone living in central California.

Description: Students will build a zero-net energy home that cannot exceed $25,000 per competition guidelines. The home will includes: fully functioning restroom with sink, toilet and shower; comfortable living space with a loft bedroom; and a kitchen with typical appliances.
